Product description

How Soon Is Now? fabric by Dedar: An embroidery like a starry sky

Dedar’s How Soon Is Now? fabric is a poetic exploration of the universe, captured in a luxurious textile form. An intriguing satin stitch embroidery pattern unfolds over a glazed linen chintz surface, with an almost three-dimensional effect. The shapes are reminiscent of constellations, light beams and celestial gestures – an abstract yet recognizable reference to the night sky.

The composition evokes feelings of wonder, infinity and movement. Each embroidered element seems to float over the fabric, like a whisper of cosmic energy.

Texture, shine and layering

The base fabric is made of pure linen, treated with a subtle glaze that gives the chintz its characteristic shine and softness. Over this runs the embroidery in vibrant colours that shine against the light background. The contrast between the smooth base and the raised embroidery lines gives the fabric a layered and tactile character.

The fabric invites interpretation and fits perfectly in spaces where imagination and subtlety come together – from modern lofts to serene bedroom concepts.

Dedar: Textiles as an art form

With How Soon Is Now, the Dedar brand proves once again that textiles can be more than functional. They are a means of expression, a carrier of emotion and story. By combining technical perfection and creative vision, a fabric is created that invites you to look and feel — a star map in motion.

Curtain fabric maintenance

To keep your curtains looking beautiful for a long time, regular and careful maintenance is important.

Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible, as this can cause discoloration over time. TIP! Make sure your curtains are lined; this protects the main fabric.

For light soiling, you can freshen up the fabric with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or excessive water. Always treat stains carefully and test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first.

Recommended maintenance products:

For curtain fabrics we recommend James products:

  • James Interior Cleaner – suitable for both natural and synthetic fabrics. Ideal for freshening curtains without damaging the fiber structure.
  • James Stain Wonder – helps remove stains, for example from contact or air pollution.

Apply the product to a white terrycloth towel, not directly onto the fabric, and dab gently. Let the fabric dry naturally, preferably out of direct sunlight.

Maintenance of furniture fabric

Furniture fabrics such as chair, sofa and cushion covers require regular care for a long life and a fresh appearance.

Vacuum the surface weekly with a soft brush attachment to remove dirt, hair, and dust. Rotate cushions regularly to prevent uneven wear and tear, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

In case of stains, it's important to act quickly: blot immediately with a clean, slightly damp cloth (do not rub). For safe and effective cleaning, use James products, specially developed for upholstery fabrics:

  • James Interior Cleaner – freshens furniture upholstery and removes light soiling without damaging the fibers.
  • James Stain Wonder – ideal for removing stains caused by drinks, food remains or pets.

For a thorough cleaning or to remove stubborn stains, it's wise to have the fabric professionally cleaned. This will keep the fabric beautiful, supple, and fresh-colored.

Every fabric tells its own story—from a subtly woven linen to a rich, full velvet. In our studio at Oostendorp Stoffering, that story comes to life. Here, the fabrics are carefully crafted into beautiful, custom-made curtains that perfectly complement your interior.
