Behind it lie the faded façades of French buildings: steep roofs with dormer windows, chimneys, rows of windows and round arches on the ground floor. Parts of these façades have been blurred away, as if they are disappearing into mist. The design runs as one continuous image across the entire wall, without any repeat. This gives you a wall that you take in as a whole, like one large scene.

Imagery and colors of Velia wallpaper

The buildings are drawn like an engraving, with fine horizontal hatching that looks almost like a weave up close. Over this lies the branch in photographic sharpness, together with weathered patches and a textile-like texture. This layering gives the image depth without making it busy. In colourway 01, a gray branch sits on off-white, cream and light beige. Colourway 02 is gray-green with light gray and cream patches, in which a dark purple-brown branch sets the contrast. There is also a third colourway, 03.

Velia wallpaper by INSTABILELAB in the dining room

In the mood photo, the branch covers the upper right half of the wall and hangs down to roughly table height. From the other side of the room you mainly see the lines of the twigs; the buildings stay in the background. Alongside a concrete floor, black chairs and a black pendant lamp, the light surface brings calm to the space.
