Serrated leafy tendrils form a network of pointed ovals, and each compartment holds a large rosette with a chequered centre. In between sit palmettes with pointed leaves, small buds and curling tendrils. In the lifestyle photo, one rosette is roughly the size of your palm and a single pattern repeat almost fills a seat cushion. As a result, the pattern reads calmly on larger pieces of furniture.

Colours and look of Montreal fabric

The ground is a dark greyish brown, almost charcoal. On top of it, the tendrils and palmettes run in mustard yellow and ochre, while the rosettes glow in cream. Small leaves in taupe and greige fill the spaces in between. The outlines are soft and slightly frayed, and horizontal stripes run through the ground, so the fabric looks like a woven carpet or velvet. It is a stylised floral motif without realistic flowers, with a warm, layered design that reveals more and more the closer you look.

Morris & Co fabric as upholstery in your interior

In the lifestyle photo you can see the design in a teal colourway as upholstery on a sofa, among scatter cushions, green curtains and a subtly patterned wall. The pattern holds its own next to other designs, so you can combine it with confidence. In Charcoal/Mustard, this Morris & Co fabric really comes into its own alongside dark wood and plain fabrics in green or ochre. Montreal fabric also works beautifully on cushions or an armchair.
