Rectangular fields slide over one another, semi-transparent, so you can still see the underlying shades shining through. Scratches, stains, a vertical seam that resembles a crack and a broad horizontal brushstroke give the image a lived-in character. There are no figures or flowers and no rigid pattern. What you see is colour and texture slowly blending into each other.

Colours of Velature wallpaper: Terre and Pastelli

You can choose from two colourways. Terre stays close to the earth: beige, sand and greige, with light grey, old rose and rust brown, plus a hint of mint grey in one corner. The overall effect is warm and understated. Pastelli has more contrast between the fields. Grey-green sits next to light pink and cream, while ochre yellow and rust orange brighten the centre and the right-hand side. In both versions the weathered background remains visible, making the colours look muted and matt, like paint that has been on a wall for years.

Inkiostro Bianco wallpaper as a wall-filling image

The design runs as one large image across the entire wall, with no visible repeat. The fields are roughly half a metre to a full metre wide and, from a distance, work like a wall-sized painting. In a dining room with dark herringbone parquet, an oval grey table and rattan chairs, Velature wallpaper by Inkiostro Bianco brings light and soft colour to contrast with the dark wood.
