Each flower has the visual language of watercolour. The colour fades transparently towards the edges, while stems and leaves are drawn with fine brushstrokes. Underneath lies a photographic plaster texture with shadows and ridges, giving the wall depth. Plenty of empty space remains between the motifs. As a result, you read the design as a wall full of loose sketches rather than a dense sea of flowers.

Colourways of Velami wallpaper

Colourway 01 features dusty pink, reddish brown and light blue to petrol on an off-white to light grey background, with stems in dark brown. This creates a light wall on which the blue buds add small accents. Colourway 02 is darker: a warm grey taupe base with flowers in slate grey, greyish blue, ochre and faded pink, and stems in blackish grey. Here the plaster look gains more weight and the pattern looks like a faded sketch. INSTABILELAB also offers colourway 03.

Velami wallpaper by INSTABILELAB in your stairwell

In the mood photo, the design continues behind a floating wooden staircase with a glass balustrade. The flower heads are roughly hand-sized and the stems are several tens of centimetres long, so you see a different part of the wall with every step. A vertical brass-coloured wall light adds a warm line of light. Thanks to its open composition, the design also suits a hallway or bedroom where you seek calm.
