In Celestial, each column alternates a blue shape that widens at the bottom with a red shape that is wide at the top instead. Narrow slanted side faces give the forms depth, as if you were looking at a row of stacked blocks. Between the columns, light, elongated diamonds keep the design open, so the rhythm stays clear.

The hand-painted look of Endless wallpaper

Up close, you can see that this geometric pattern has been painted by hand. The paint sits in cloudy patches on the shapes, brushstrokes remain visible and the edges are not quite ruler-straight. That takes the rigidity out of the form. Around ten columns fit side by side across the wall, and each trapezoid appears about the size of a hand, so the motif fills the wall without becoming busy. The vertical lines draw your eye upwards, giving a low hallway or narrow corridor more height.

Colourways of the Mind the Gap Endless wallpaper

Celestial combines sky blue with raspberry red on a cream ground, with thin purple lines along the shapes. Scarlet sets jade green against brick red on off-white, sharpened with dark blue lines. There is also the Violet colourway. In the mood photo, Celestial is shown behind a wooden table with wicker baskets, striped textiles and an ikat curtain. There, Endless wallpaper really comes into its own alongside fabrics with a pattern of their own.
