Abaca wallpaper collection Nobilis

Abaca wallpaper by Nobilis: plain fibre in salmon pink

Abaca wallpaper by Nobilis is all about one thing: the structure of the fibre. There is no pattern and no repeat. Fine horizontal threads run across the entire width, each just slightly thicker or thinner, slightly lighter or darker than the previous one. Up close you see that irregularity at millimetre level. From a few metres away you read the wall as a soft field of colour with depth. In the mood photo, light falls from the left across the wall and creates a diagonal shadow edge, bringing the lines to life. The seams between the strips remain visible as calm vertical lines.

The design in the Abaca wallpaper collection

The collection consists of one design: Abaca wallpaper. In the main image you see it in a salmon pink shade that leans towards peach, with lighter and darker fibres mixed together. Those colour differences make the wall livelier than a painted wall. The horizontal direction creates a sense of calm and draws the eye across the width. Because there is no pattern, you have free rein with what you place in front of it. In the setting, that means two white wrought-iron chairs with wavy backrests and small balls on the tips, with orange, white and light blue checked cushions. It is precisely that busy fabric that comes into its own against the calm background behind it.

Combining Nobilis wallpaper with colour and material

Abaca by Nobilis calls for materials with their own texture. In the photo there is a round white table with a stone top and a stacked base. On it stand a cream-coloured vase with a coarse, flaky surface and a red-orange marble bowl. The contrast between smooth stone, the rough vase and the fine fibre on the wall shows how to build up layers. If you choose orange, terracotta or white as an accent, you tie in directly with the salmon pink.
