Cameo wallpaper by Arte: drawn lines, tone-on-tone

Cameo wallpaper by Arte is all about lines that appear hand-drawn and together fill large surfaces. The drawn patterns each stay within one colour family: reddish-brown with terracotta, dark grey with light threads, ochre with lighter outlines. Up close you see hatching and loose strokes; from a distance a rhythm of arches, blocks or diamonds emerges. The collection also contains patterns that translate wood, stone, snakeskin and glazed earthenware onto the wall. The result is a wall with depth, without a motif shouting.

Patterns in the Cameo wallpaper collection

Arado wallpaper enlarges the strokes of a rough brush into fan-shaped arches of about half a metre, in rows that overlap each other. A high-gloss layer contrasts with the matte base layer in dark reddish-brown and terracotta. Twine wallpaper is inspired by hand-woven raffia: light, crossing threads in rectangular blocks of varying width, joined together like patchwork on dark grey. Shibam wallpaper builds a three-dimensional pattern with hatched diamonds, hexagons and cubes in ochre, based on open-woven sisal. Timber wallpaper follows the grain of wood and can be hung horizontally or vertically, just like Lustro wallpaper with its visible layers of travertine or marble. Escama wallpaper is a free interpretation of snakeskin. Linea wallpaper and Emaille wallpaper reference earthenware: fine straight lines in varying thickness with a play of matte and gloss, and a pattern that looks like glaze.

Combining Cameo wallpaper with wood, linen and graphic fabrics

In the photos, this Arte wallpaper is shown next to materials that keep it calm: light oak planks and a white sheepskin with Arado, cream-coloured bedding and an ochre throw with Twine, rough wood and dried flowers with Shibam. Because the drawn patterns remain tone-on-tone, you can set a bold upholstery fabric or a graphic motif against it, like the burgundy and white armchair in front of the reddish-brown wall.
