Chinoiserie Garden wallpaper by Sandberg: painted garden scenes for your wall

With the Chinoiserie Garden wallpaper collection you bring a painted Oriental garden into your home, with branches, flowers, birds and butterflies on muted backgrounds. Some patterns span an entire wall as one continuous scene, others are small and regular. The brushwork remains visible throughout, making the wall look painted rather than papered. In the images you see the patterns in a bedroom with a four-poster bed, in a bathroom with a freestanding washbasin and next to a window with floral curtains. Sandberg shows that the same visual language can carry both a whole room and a small corner.

Patterns in the Chinoiserie Garden wallpaper collection

Bloom wallpaper is the most open pattern: branches with orange and peach-coloured peonies, magnolia buds, a bird in flight, herons, butterflies and small insects run across a light grey-beige background, without visible repetition. Bamboo Grove wallpaper sets tall bamboo stems in blue and blue-green against salmon pink, with cream magnolias and wisteria-style hanging clusters at the bottom. Much smaller is Butterflies wallpaper, with butterflies in pink and green tones on beige, staggered with ample space between them. Seabirds wallpaper shows cranes among lotus flowers and golden reed plumes on a dark grey-blue background. The title pattern Chinoiserie Garden wallpaper brings together bamboo, peonies, songbirds and a peacock with an outstretched tail on dusty pink.

Combining Sandberg wallpaper with large and small motifs

The large branch scenes of Chinoiserie Garden by Sandberg work beautifully on a wall you can take in at once, behind a bed or around a washbasin. If you want less movement, choose Butterflies for the surrounding walls. The butterfly motif continues, just on a smaller scale. That the muted backgrounds tolerate busy fabrics is evident from the red floral fabric and green bed print in the bedroom photo.
