Farrow & Ball wallpaper

Farrow & Ball wallpaper is block-printed in a factory in Wimborne, Dorset, using the brand's own paint instead of standard printing ink. That is precisely the secret behind the velvety matte finish, the deep colours and the tactile texture you rarely find with other brands. Timeless British designs, carefully tuned to the famous Farrow & Ball colour palettes: this is wallpaper that genuinely carries a room.

The story behind Farrow & Ball wallpaper

Farrow & Ball was founded in 1946 by John Farrow, a trained chemist, and Richard Maurice Ball, an engineer, who met at a local clay pit and shared a passion for mixing rich colours. That background in chemistry explains why colour has always been central to this brand. The wall coverings came later, but build on that same passion for pigment and finish. Today, Farrow & Ball wallpaper stands for an unmistakable British signature: understated, considered and with a palette that lasts for generations.

How Farrow & Ball wallpaper is made

What sets this brand apart is that the prints are applied with genuine Farrow & Ball paint rather than ordinary ink. At the factory in Dorset this is done using traditional techniques such as open-trough and flatbed printing, methods that take months to master. Because it is paint on paper, the surface catches the light in a warmer, softer way, with an almost tactile depth you can see with the naked eye and feel with your hand. Every roll is given a fine, wipeable sheen. The craft approach gives each length a subtle character of its own, which means the finish will look just as good in ten years' time as it did on day one.

Where Farrow & Ball wallpaper works best

Thanks to the broad palette range and the variety of designs, this wallpaper suits almost any space. Botanical motifs like Ivy look beautiful in a living room or bedroom where you are after calm and warmth. Geometric and striped designs such as Drag instantly give a hallway or study structure and character. In a dining room or library, the deeper tones create that intimate atmosphere the brand is so loved for. Working with a smaller room? Then choose a lighter colourway within the collection; the matte finish never feels heavy, even in a compact space.

Hanging and caring for Farrow & Ball wallpaper

Because this wallpaper is printed by hand, accurate pattern matching is extra important. Work the lengths calmly and evenly, and allow for the natural variation between rolls. The wipeable sheen makes the surface resistant to light marks; wipe it carefully with a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh cleaning products.
