Hiroko fabric by Elitis: small geometry in earth tones

The Hiroko fabric by Elitis is all about small motifs that repeat endlessly: chevrons, arrowheads, blocks and grids, woven in ochre, taupe, caramel and cream. Up close you see the structure of the weave, the stepped edges of an arrow and the relief of a block. From a distance these motifs become a calm rhythm. The images show where these fabrics belong: with dark oak, woven rugs and walls of wooden planks. The patterns work well side by side, because they share the same colour palette and the same small scale.

Patterns in the Hiroko fabric collection

On Makoto fabric, small ochre-yellow chevrons run in vertical strips over a light beige ground, each separated by a thin white line. On a piped cushion, the coarse texture really stands out. Maka fabric is darker: brown arrowheads with stepped edges are arranged in rows on a taupe ground, alternately pointing up and down, and come alive in the folds of a curtain. Katsura fabric leaves the line behind and works with a mosaic of squares and rectangles in brown, beige and cream, with relief and sheen. Genzo fabric places warm brown tones and ivory white in a check pattern. On Soji fabric, white lines criss-cross a caramel-brown background. Ikumi fabric keeps it calm, with horizontal bands in light beige and sand.

Combining Hiroko fabric with wood and natural materials

The images show how well this Elitis fabric pairs with warm, rough materials: oak wood, rope with a tassel, woven rugs. Feel free to combine two patterns, as in the photo where the Makoto cushion lies in front of a Maka curtain. The yellow accent and the dark arrow motif reinforce each other, because the scale remains the same. A pouf in Katsura gives a seating area with wooden walls a lighter focal point.
