Kintsugi wallpaper by Elitis: golden lines on broken walls

Kintsugi wallpaper by Elitis brings the Japanese philosophy of visible repair to your wall. Where something is broken, a golden line runs through. In this collection you see this reflected as craquelé, as large fracture surfaces and as frames of crumpled gold leaf. The backgrounds are mottled and subdued, in cream, off-white and grey-green. This gives the gold all the space it needs, without making the wall look busy. The result looks like an old wall that has been carefully restored. The collection features five patterns, from a continuous pattern to a panoramic mural.

Patterns in the Kintsugi wallpaper collection

The pattern Kintsugi wallpaper keeps it small: a dense network of thin, gold-beige lines on cream, with a subtle relief structure that you only notice when the light passes over it. With Kintsugi Eclat wallpaper the same idea is executed on a grand scale. Wide golden lines divide a grey-green, mottled wall into a handful of angular surfaces, with a patch of gold leaf here and there. Les marques de l'Empire wallpaper opts for straight lines. Ragged bands of crumpled gold leaf draw frames and three parallel stripes on off-white, like panelling where the years have left their traces. Une Certaine Magnificence wallpaper shows two vases with flowers, and Algues Dorees wallpaper lets golden seaweed move across the wall as a panoramic image.

Gold Elitis wallpaper in your home

The fine craquelé of the Kintsugi pattern suits a wall you see daily, in a living room or hallway, next to natural stone and ceramics. Eclat and Les marques de l'Empire call for a large, open wall where the lines can run their full length. In the images they are shown next to red marble, brass and an orange-red sofa. These warm tones make the gold glow without it becoming ostentatious.
