Osmanthus wallpaper by Arte: fibre, weave and pattern

Osmanthus wallpaper by Arte is all about the horizontal line. Every pattern in this collection has a fibre or weave structure that runs from left to right, and Arte builds on this with colour and pattern. Sometimes your wall remains plain ochre yellow, sometimes brown, gold and rust red blend together, and occasionally a complete landscape with pagodas and bridges appears. The seams between panels remain visible in the images and are part of the design. The wallpaper is shown next to turned walnut, teak with rattan and concrete, materials that enhance the warm fibre tones.

Patterns in the Osmanthus wallpaper collection

Line wallpaper keeps it calm: fine horizontal sisal fibres in plain ochre yellow, with the occasional dark stripe. Geloma wallpaper follows the same direction, but weaves short stripes in dense rows, making brown, ochre, gold and rust red run across the wall as a speckled surface. Gardens of Okayama wallpaper is the narrative pattern of the collection. Weeping willows, pines, pagodas, arched bridges and houses are drawn in linear form in black, grey and beige with gold accents on a light grey fibre ground. Hemp with knots and threads of varying thickness forms Sambe wallpaper, while Kudzu wallpaper is coarsely woven from the climbing plant of the same name. On a sisal base you'll find a herringbone pattern in Chasu wallpaper and geometric embroidery in Tatami wallpaper.

Combining Osmanthus by Arte with wood and stone

The mood photographs show where this wall covering comes into its own. Dark walnut and teak connect with the ochre and gold tones of Geloma and Line, while a white plastered wall and concrete floor provide contrast. Gardens of Okayama hangs as a centre panel between panels of dark grey grasscloth, so the landscape stands in the space like a room divider. If you want one wall to speak, combine plain and figurative Osmanthus wallpaper in this way.
