Romo cushions come from an English family business that has existed since 1902: Robert Mould founded it in Nottingham and formed the name "Romo" from the first two letters of his first name. Today the fifth generation of the family is at the helm, with the head office in Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire. What began as a furniture maker grew into an internationally leading house in luxury interior textiles. At Selected Wallpapers & Interiors you will find the cushions that bring this rich history to life in your own living room.

The story behind Romo cushions

The brand's creative power stems from the in-house design studio that Romo established in the 1980s. Before that, the company was mainly known as a wholesaler for the furniture industry; since that studio was founded, Romo has developed into the design-driven house it is today, with fabrics, wallpaper, trimmings and accessories that are appreciated worldwide. Romo cushions build on that design tradition and are finished with the same care for colour, texture and detail that characterises the collections. It is no coincidence that the company twice received the Queen's Award for Enterprise for its international success.

Materials and appearance of Romo cushions

The appeal lies in the tactile quality. You will find velvet with deep colour nuances, woven designs with relief and plain fabrics with a soft, almost peach-skin-like finish. The colour palettes are thoughtfully composed, so that a Romo cushion can serve both as a quiet accent and as a striking statement. By combining different textures and shades you easily build up layers in an interior, something the house's designers excel at. This versatility makes the cushions suitable for both a restrained and an expressive décor.

Distinctive collections with Romo cushions

A good starting point is the Pluma line, with decorative cushions such as the Odelia and the Ezri, in which print, chenille and contrasting piping come together. Those who love a sober, natural palette should look at the Linara cushions: Linara is Romo's famous, washable linen blend with a softened, antique-washed look and an exceptionally wide colour palette, which makes it one of the brand's most popular fabrics. For a little more playfulness, the Katori cushions from the Itami collection bring a contemporary chevron stripe. So the Romo cushions range from calm to expressive, with a fitting choice for every interior.

Where Romo cushions come into their own

Romo cushions suit a wide range of interior styles, from sleek and modern to classic and everything in between. On a neutral sofa they bring colour and depth; on a bed they turn the headboard into an inviting place to rest. In a reading nook or on a windowsill they work as a soft, decorative touch. Combine a plain velvet cushion with a woven design for contrast, or keep it calm with several shades from the same colour family. Because Romo offers its fabrics in so many colours, the cushions are effortlessly matched to wallpaper, curtains and upholstery in the same room.

Caring for your Romo cushions

Treat Romo cushions the way you treat fine interior textiles: plump them up regularly, avoid prolonged direct sunlight to keep the colours looking beautiful, and always consult the care label or product information for the correct cleaning method, as this varies per fabric. A removable cover makes maintenance easier. That way your cushions will remain a refined addition to your interior for years to come.
