Sauvages wallpaper by Elitis: fur and spots on the wall

Sauvages wallpaper brings the fur of wild animals and cattle to your wall. The images are photographic: you see the direction of the hair, the transition from cream to ochre and the dark brown rosettes of a leopard. Yet it's vinyl. Elitis rarely lays that animal hide as one sheet on the wall. Usually it's cut into pieces and relaid, in rectangles, polygons or a herringbone. The palette remains earthy: sand, taupe, brown and here and there a grey-green surface.

From leopard spot to patchwork: patterns in the Sauvages wallpaper collection

L'Habit de Venus wallpaper is a patchwork of large rectangular and L-shaped surfaces in cream, beige, brown and grey-green, each up to a metre wide. With Pampa wallpaper the pieces become smaller: irregular polygons of twenty to forty centimetres that fit together like natural stone, with shadow edges that suggest relief. Sante Fe wallpaper lays the fur in a herringbone, Panthere wallpaper divides a panther hide into geometric surfaces and Blasons wallpaper shows a cowhide with lines that appear stitched on. If you want to see the animal itself, choose Leopard wallpaper: dark brown spots of tens of centimetres on ochre and sand, as one continuous image across the wall. Tigre Royal wallpaper translates a tiger hide into a set of wall panels, L'Appel de la Foret wallpaper is a panel set with a leopard in its natural environment and Veracruz wallpaper completes the series.

Combining Sauvages wallpaper with concrete, wood and greenery

In the images the patterns hang in spaces with concrete, light wood and a large plant. Sauvages by Elitis needs little competition from its surroundings. Cream-coloured armchairs seem to merge into the light surfaces of L'Habit de Venus, while black chairs and a green tiled top stand out against Pampa. If you choose Leopard, give the wall space and keep the furniture low and dark, like the black slatted bench in the image.
