Toiles Peintes wallpaper by Dedar: painted canvas on linen

The Toiles Peintes wallpaper by Dedar treats the wall as a painted canvas. Each pattern is set on a visible linen weave, and that structure shows through the print. Two worlds alternate on it. On one side a dense, multicoloured canopy of leaves reminiscent of old tapestries, on the other light line drawings that leave plenty of empty space. Between these extremes you'll find figures and rhythms: a boxer, piano keys, a mosaic. So you can choose a wall that works as a painting or one that mainly brings calm.

The Schwarzwald wallpaper fills the wall with a verdure of scale-like leaf clusters, brown branches and trunks, without sky or horizon. Dark green and blue-green merge into olive, beige and rust brown. Very different is the Schmetterling wallpaper. Here small, finely hatched shapes in ochre and gold are scattered over off-white, each at a different angle, like folded paper planes. With the Lehti wallpaper, light grey lines draw a continuous network of large polygons, somewhere between leaf veins and a city map. The Goodfellas wallpaper shows the profile of a boxer with tense muscles and raised gloves. In the A Love Supreme wallpaper, piano keys and quick hand movements become an abstract pattern with echoes of art deco. The Greco Cerca Greca wallpaper builds an abstract labyrinth from a meticulous mosaic.

Dedar wallpaper on linen: bold or understated

If you want the wall to set the tone, Schwarzwald gives a room the depth of a forest. It even holds its own next to a busy terrazzo floor. If you're looking for calm, Schmetterling and Lehti work almost like a tinted wall. Up close you see lines and motifs, from a distance mainly light linen. Lehti covers the surface with one large network, while Schmetterling leaves plenty of white space.
