Traces wallpaper by Masureel: cranes, lines and brushstrokes

In the Traces wallpaper by Masureel you'll find Japanese imagery in two ways. On one hand there's a painted panel with three cranes, white blossom and a golden ochre disc on a dark reddish-brown background. On the other hand there are abstract designs in beige, off-white and sage green, built up from fine lines and broad strokes. What connects everything is a surface that looks hand-drawn or hand-painted. This way you can choose between a dark eye-catcher in a niche and a light wall that remains calm behind a cabinet or armchair.

Tsuro wallpaper is the figurative piece: almost life-size cranes with a red crown and brown plumage, set against square fields with a wood-like texture. Byobu wallpaper also works with cranes and flowering branches, complemented by clouds in a panoramic landscape. Traces wallpaper divides the wall into rectangular blocks, each filled with undulating lines, dotted grids or weave-like hatching. With Shodo wallpaper, broad brushstrokes in off-white meander vertically over a mottled sage green background. Iwa wallpaper follows the layered contours of rock formations, Sugi wallpaper refers to the Japanese cedar with a wood texture and Gisuke wallpaper shows lines that look as if they've been chiselled into the surface. Yugen wallpaper and Sakura wallpaper complete the range.

Traces by Masureel in a light or dark room

The dark Tsuro panel comes into its own in a niche between white walls, where the warm reddish-brown and golden ochre stand out against the light. Traces and Shodo demand less attention. The fine blocks of Traces let ceramics and a lichen-covered branch in the foreground do the talking, while the large strokes of Shodo fill a wall behind a velvet armchair and a high-pile rug. So you decide for yourself how much the wall has to say.
