PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Der König wallpaper by Mind the Gap with a blue or red stag
Der König wallpaper places an antlered stag at the centre of a mirrored pattern of leafy branches, birds and small roosters. A tulip shape sits above its head, a yellow triangle beneath its hooves and a heart at the very bottom. Pink birds fly off at an angle. The design looks hand-painted, with visible brushstrokes on a lightly mottled cream background that resembles old fabric. This is naive folk art, free of any rigid line.
Colours of Der König wallpaper: Light Blue and Red
In Light Blue, the stag and the large flowers are rendered in petrol and cobalt blue, with olive green, soft pink and dots of yellow and orange. This version feels cool and calm. Red is warmer: a red stag among red flowers, with the same olive-green branches and pink birds. This makes the light blue roosters stand out all the more. In both colourways the cream background remains clearly visible, so the pattern feels airy despite its many motifs.
Mind the Gap wallpaper at true scale in the living room
On the wall, each stag is roughly half a metre tall. The stags are arranged in rows, side by side and one above the other, and about two fit vertically above a sofa. Behind a beige leather chesterfield with red and dark blue cushions, the pattern really comes into its own. At Selected Wallpapers you can view Der König wallpaper alongside the rest of the Mind the Gap wallpaper collection.
