Savane wallpaper Pierre Frey

Savane wallpaper by Pierre Frey with painted leopard spots

Savane wallpaper shows a leopard spot the way a painter would set it down with a quick brush. Open C-shaped rings, solid dots and short dashes in rows are loosely scattered across the wall, now and then crossed by a long vertical line or a small cross. Each spot has an irregular edge, as if the paint has only just dried. It is not a photographic animal skin. It is a free play of marks that reads differently every time you look up close. The background looks like finely woven textile and gives the wall depth.

Colours of Savane wallpaper: Dune and Jungle

On an off-white ground, each colourway takes on its own character. Dune stays close to sand and stone: taupe and greyish brown with beige, brightened with ochre yellow, orange and here and there a hint of lilac. The overall effect feels warm and calm, well suited to a bedroom or a light living room. Jungle sets dark brown and greyish brown alongside vivid green and cobalt blue. These bright accents stand out among the earth tones and bring the wall to life, while the light ground gives the pattern room to breathe.

Pierre Frey leopard spot wallpaper in the room

In the mood photo, Jungle hangs behind an old wooden trestle table, with two large painted pots beside it. The spots are small, no bigger than the palm of a hand, and fill the wall as one continuous surface. As a result, the pattern works as texture: a backdrop that lets old wood, ceramics and linen speak.
