Alcove wallpaper collection Elitis

Alcove wallpaper by Elitis: velvet in taupe, terracotta and khaki

The Alcove wallpaper by Elitis covers a wall with velvet instead of a motif. You see no flowers or figures, only textile: a visible weave texture, a soft sheen and colour that shifts between lighter and darker across each strip. This makes the wall change with the light in the room. The collection features three designs, from an almost plain linen texture to a cloudy, mottled effect. In the images they are shown behind design pieces and ceramics, and it is precisely these objects that draw more attention against such a calm background.

Designs in the Alcove wallpaper collection

Alcove II wallpaper keeps things calm. The taupe to bronze-brown surface has a fine cross-weave of threads that resembles linen, with the occasional lighter mark. This velvet comes in a range of new shades. Alcove wallpaper takes colour and movement a step further. In the photo the wall is coloured terracotta to copper-orange, mottled like velvet, with a weave texture you can see up close. A green Utrecht armchair by Rietveld stands out brightly against it. Garconniere wallpaper, by contrast, gives the surface a cloudy look. Grey-brown and khaki blend into one another in light and dark zones, and fine vertical lines give the velvet a corduroy-like stripe with a metallic sheen.

Elitis wallpaper as a background for ceramics and design

Because the three designs work without a motif, they can cover an entire wall without becoming busy. If you choose calm, Alcove II suits a bookshelf with light objects. If you want the wall itself to make a colour statement, choose the terracotta of Alcove. Garconniere gives depth to a corner with parquet and a single sculptural piece of furniture. Within Alcove by Elitis you therefore choose primarily based on colour and on how much movement you want in the surface.
