Ecume wallpaper by Elitis: textures and shine from the sea

The Ecume wallpaper brings the underwater world to your wall, translated into textures, shell motifs and shine. For this collection, Elitis was guided by layers of sand on the seabed, reeds that move with the current and stone shaped by water. In most patterns you recognise a natural material, from woven linen to stacked shells. The colours stay close to nature: bronze, cream and beige with a hint of light blue. A few patterns deliberately seek out the dark, with silvery reflections like light on water at night.

Patterns in the Ecume wallpaper collection

Sediment wallpaper resembles woven linen: fine threads in two directions, with irregular streaks in brown and bronze. It has no motif and calmly draws two walls of a corner together. Calyptra wallpaper, by contrast, works with a repeat: rows of overlapping shells full of concentric arcs and ridges in cream and pearl white, which shine where the light falls. Filigrane wallpaper shows horizontal fibre strands with small knots, beige interspersed with light blue and grey-green. Lithos wallpaper has a layered, irregular surface that references stone and limestone. With Palmeraie wallpaper slender palm trees appear on the wall, floating between water and air. Mille et une nuit wallpaper plays with a silvery, reflective shine, and Nyx wallpaper contrasts it with dark water in which light only leaves fragments of reflection.

Combining Ecume by Elitis with wood, reed and ceramics

The images show where Ecume by Elitis comes into its own. Sediment gains depth next to a wooden block and a terracotta jug. Calyptra catches the light behind a brown corner sofa and above a jute rug. Filigrane forms a light background for a dark dining table and reed chairs. If you choose Nyx or Mille et une nuit, the position of your lamps determines how the shine reveals itself.
