Galerie 4 wallpaper by Pierre Frey: panoramas that fill the entire wall

With Galerie 4 wallpaper you hang a wall-sized painting. Each pattern in this collection by Pierre Frey is a panorama that fills the entire wall. The image is painted or drawn, sometimes with thick brushstrokes and sometimes as a light watercolour. The subjects vary widely: a forest full of orange and yellow leaves, a dark arched form between marbled patches, a classical sanctuary against a hill. Jungles, mountains and birds also feature. What binds the patterns is the scale. The image takes over the wall and the room orients itself around it.

Patterns in the Galerie 4 wallpaper collection

Sous Bois wallpaper places trees with yellow, turquoise and red trunks in a forest of loose, impasto strokes. Eclipse wallpaper is abstract: a dark brown sphere emerging halfway from swirling white, light blue and ochre. Apollon wallpaper shows the sanctuary of Delphi as a watercolour in beige, ochre and sage green, with a colonnaded temple and terraced buildings. In L'Oasis wallpaper trees and plants grow in soft, bright colours on a light ground, while L'Envol wallpaper places brightly coloured birds on blue-green. Mamore wallpaper is a jungle panorama in aqua tints on beige. La Vallee du Mont Blanc wallpaper lets sunlight fall on snowy peaks above a summer valley. Aristoloches wallpaper brings back the birthwort, a sixteenth-century motif that Pierre Frey reinterprets. The range is completed with Plan Jaillot wallpaper, Musique du Monde wallpaper, La Dame De Fer wallpaper and Porquerolles wallpaper.

Pierre Frey wallpaper in the living room and stairwell

The images show how the patterns relate to a space. The multicoloured forest is counterbalanced by an olive-green velvet chaise longue and herringbone parquet. The dark, earthy Eclipse fills a high stairwell with dark blue walls and rough grey beams. The muted pastel of Apollon suits a plaster sculpture, a wooden column and a yellow chair. If you choose Galerie 4 wallpaper, you set the tone of the entire room with one wall.
