Dedar wallpaper comes out of Como. The house is an Italian family company, founded in 1976 just outside the city in the traditional silk district, and it built its name in textiles long before it put anything on a wall.
That background shows. A Dedar wall reads closer to cloth than to paper, with color that shifts as the light moves and a surface you want to run your hand across.
The story behind Dedar wallpaper
Dedar started as a small textile company and grew into a house known internationally for its color palettes and for designs nobody saw coming. It describes itself as a company that keeps experimenting and innovating, and it works closely with local artisans and textile specialists to do it. From 2011 to 2020 Dedar collaborated with Hermès on furnishing fabrics and wallcoverings, and its fabrics have been chosen for major exhibitions. Dedar wallpaper comes from the same studio and the same habits. You get graphic patterns, quiet metallics and woven structures from a company that sets its own course instead of following trends.
Materials and textures of Dedar wallcovering
Precious yarns and research into fiber technology sit behind the range, and you see the result before you read any label. One design reads as soft felt, the next as dulled metal. Dedar wallcovering leads with texture, so even a plain wall has something going on.
Take Alter Ego Wall. There is no motif, only a fine horizontal slub across the whole surface, copper-orange with darker brown streaks and a slight sheen. Beside a brass handrail in a stairwell, it glows. Acromo goes the other way. It is a pale beige-gray with a fine grid of horizontal and vertical threads, calm enough to sit behind a travertine table and let the objects do the talking. Elsewhere in the range you find moiré that ripples across the wall, metallic surfaces that catch the light, and printed designs where the weave stays visible through the print.
Signature Dedar wallpaper collections
Below is a selection of the Dedar collections we carry, each with its own handling of texture and color. Because Dedar started in cloth, many designs pair naturally with Dedar fabrics for drapery, cushions or upholstery, so the wall and the furnishings speak the same language.
- Textured Silken Yarns — short slubs run horizontally through the weave, irregular in placement, shade and thickness
- Toiles Peintes — dense foliage like old tapestries alternates with sparse line drawings on a canvas-like ground
- Woven Felt & Other Weaves — no motif, only flecks, ribs, loops and lines in gray, beige and cream
- Moire Chanvre Wall — a moiré ripple runs across the surface as texture, with no defined figure or repeat
- White Writings Mural — bamboo, narrow leaves and long-tailed birds drawn in soft earth tones over a woven ground
- Sunday Wall — a plain velvety surface with cloudy shifts in tone, shown in lemon to mustard yellow
- Metallo — a metallic sheen over coarse grids and moiré, from sand beige and greige to taupe
- Textile Wallcovering II — four designs over a visible woven ground, in ochre, terracotta, black and off-white
Where Dedar wallpaper works best
American rooms give you large, uninterrupted planes. You have smooth drywall and tall ceilings, and in an open plan one wall is seen from across the room and from arm's length. Flat print thins out on a surface like that. Woven structure and low sheen hold up, because the wall keeps changing as daylight crosses it.
A powder room is the obvious first candidate. It is small and seen up close, so the texture gets full attention. An entryway wants depth more than pattern, and a metallic or a slubbed plain makes a warm first impression. In a bedroom, a quiet textile plain brings calm and gives back some of the acoustic softness that drywall and hard floors take out. Over a dining table, a large drawn scene such as White Writings Mural gives the room a subject.

Ordering and hanging Dedar wallcovering
Dedar wallcovering is sold by the meter, not by the roll. The calculator on each product page takes your wall width and height in inches and tells you how many meters to order. Read the pattern repeat on the product page before you calculate, since it decides how the drops line up across the wall. Then order the whole wall at once.
The textile surface and relief of these designs call for careful hanging. For neatly aligned widths, we recommend calling in a professional wallpaper hanger.
