Acoustic wallpaper absorbs sound instead of bouncing it back, and that changes how a room feels before anyone notices the pattern on the wall. The work is done by the top layer: felted, fiber-rich or micro-perforated material takes in sound waves that bare drywall returns at full strength. Those fibers hold a little heat too, taking the chill off an exterior wall.
Why open-plan American rooms need acoustic wallpaper
A great room puts kitchen and living space in one volume: high ceilings, hardwood or tile underfoot, one end mostly glass. Every surface is hard, and drywall reflects most of all because there is so much of it. Bring one of these designs onto one long wall and the balance shifts: voices stop carrying, and talk at the island no longer reaches the sofa as a blur. For the same tactile depth without the absorbing layer, look at textured wallpaper.
Where the range earns its place at home
An entryway with a stone or tile floor is where most people notice the echo first. A home office is next: your voice stops hanging in the air on video calls, so you sound closer and less like a corridor. Bedrooms and media rooms gain more quietly: the fibers settle sound inside the room rather than blocking what travels through the wall. Lobbies and meeting rooms want the same at a larger scale, covered by our contract wallpaper range.
Felt, textile or vinyl: choosing the top layer
Three constructions do the absorbing. Textile and felt keep a soft hand, as in Textile Acoustic by Texdecor. Micro-perforated vinyl suits stairwells and hallways that get touched daily; Vinyl Acoustic belongs there. 3D Acoustic adds relief you read from across the room. Around them sit the broader textile wallcovering and non-woven wallpaper ranges, plus murals printed to your own measurements.
Acoustic wallpaper versus acoustic panels
A panel treats one spot and stays an object on the wall, visible as the fix it is. The wallpaper covers the whole surface and reads as a plain, well-finished wall, so the room gets quieter without the remedy announcing itself. Where atmosphere comes first, that usually decides it. Width and repeat differ per collection, so measure each wall and send us the figures before you order.
Ordering the collection from a European specialist
The range comes from European houses such as Texdecor, Elitis and Casamance, which make for European interiors first and reach American walls through us. Order samples first: fibers have to be felt, and color judged in your own daylight. Orders to the United States arrive with import duties and fees settled up front, so nothing is owed on delivery. Not sure which construction fits your room? Tell us about the space and we will say what we would hang.
