Elitis fabrics

Elitis fabrics are built up rather than printed flat, and that one decision explains most of what you see. Linen is the backbone of the range: crumpled, dyed, gilded or coated until a weave reads closer to plaster or beaten metal than to plain cloth. The house works out of Toulouse, in the south of France, and treats textile as an expressive material rather than the last thing you add to a room.

What makes an Elitis weave recognizable

Relief is the constant. Surfaces carry techniques you rarely meet elsewhere: laser-worked detail, reinvented natural fiber, indoor-outdoor weaves that hold up on a covered porch. Because the finish sits in the cloth instead of on top of it, a swatch keeps shifting as the light crosses the room. The same gray linen can read sandy at noon and almost bronze at six. Even the name points that way; the house is named for Odysseas Elytis, the Greek poet who won the Nobel Prize.

I'M Not Afraid leans into daring texture and expressive pattern. Brera works in a refined, Italian-inspired register with rich woven structure, while Anthologie stays on the natural-material side of the house. Kanako and Onomichi belong in the same sample order.

Room by room, from entryway to primary bedroom

Most projects start with cushions, since one cut already changes how a sofa reads. Upholstery is the bigger commitment: dining chairs, a sofa, a pair of armchairs, an ottoman. Drapery and voile panels come third. In an entryway or mudroom, a heavy weave on a bench takes daily wear better than anything decorative. In a primary bedroom the coated linens do their best work after dark, when lamplight rakes across the texture.
