Mind the Gap Fabrics

Mind the Gap fabrics carry the pattern language of a Transylvanian studio onto sofas, headboards and drapery. The label began in 2016 in Târgu Mureș, Romania, as an independent design house inside Global Art Production. Stefan Ormenișan runs it as creative director, alongside managing director Victor Șerban. The name nods to that parent company and to the London Underground warning.

Stonewashed linen or velvet: choosing a ground cloth

The range rests on two cloths. Stonewashed linen has a soft, lightly vintage texture that suits slipcovers and floor-length drapes. Velvet reads warm and full, holding the color depth the darker designs need. Both are made up for upholstery and for curtains.

Where the Transylvanian patterns come from

The design team works from the multicultural heritage of Transylvania and from further afield. Motifs run botanical or geometric, with a folkloric thread through the house style, layered rather than printed flat. Work from this studio now reaches more than 70 countries.
