Les Précieuses fabric by Casamance: patterns built from lines

Les Précieuses fabric by Casamance is all about the line. In several patterns, the motifs are built from closely spaced thread lines, so that leaves, rings and grids look like embroidery. Other fabrics let the texture speak, with a mottled weave or a stitched relief. The colour palette ranges from petrol blue, navy blue and dark green to rust brown, copper and ecru. In the images, the fabrics hang as floor-to-ceiling curtains or cover a headboard, always in rooms with decorative mouldings, panelling and herringbone parquet. These are fabrics you look at up close.

Patterns in the Les Précieuses fabric collection

Iridis fabric fills the surface with long, pointed leaves that bend in all directions and overlap each other. Each leaf is filled with hatched lines in petrol blue, dark green and blue, with rust brown and white here and there. Where Iridis is figurative, Palida fabric and Sur Un Fil fabric choose geometry. Palida lays down a strict grid of four-petalled shapes: curved ecru lines with a copper-coloured edge on dark petrol-blue velvet. Sur Un Fil works on a larger scale, with open rings that interlock like a chain and run in staggered columns across a rust-brown ground. Prestige fabric is a mottled weave with a tweed character in olive green, beige, brown and cream white. Apparat fabric gets its pattern from a stitched relief in fan- and shell-like shapes, and Sur Mesure fabric shows a zebra pattern in petrol green and black.

Les Précieuses by Casamance at home

The rooms in the photographs show how this Casamance fabric works. Iridis hangs in a bay window with a dark blue ceiling and black window frames, and the leaves pick up those colours. Sur Un Fil covers the entire wall of a hallway between blue doors, so that the ring pattern itself forms the wall. Palida on the headboard is surrounded by linen bedding, an ochre cushion and walnut wood.
