Missoni wallpaper

Missoni wallpaper brings the zigzag pattern that made the Italian fashion house famous to your walls. Ottavio and Rosita Missoni started a small knitwear workshop near Gallarate, north of Milan, in 1953. Their flame-stitch stripes and unusual colour combinations grew into a signature you can recognise among thousands, and that signature has remained unchanged in their wallcoverings.

The collections are produced under licence in Italy by Jannelli & Volpi, one of the country's oldest wallpaper manufacturers. You can see this in the finish: patterns such as Zig Zag Multicolore and Ombré are built up from colour gradients that imitate knitwear, with a texture that comes alive under raking light.

Features of Missoni wallpaper

At Missoni, colour is not an accent but the starting point. Where many brands look for a calm base, Missoni deliberately sets contrasts side by side: warm against cool, matt against gloss. This makes the wallpaper work well on a single feature wall in an otherwise understated room, or all around a space where the pattern is allowed to set the tone.

The range goes from boldly graphic to almost plain. Zig Zag Multicolore and Graffiti are the most recognisable; Rafia and Ombré stay closer to a texture. Oriental Garden and Bali show the more narrative side of the brand, with botanical motifs in the same richness of colour.

All patterns are vinyl wallpaper on a non-woven backing and are supplied per roll of 10 metres. Unsure about the colour? Order a sample first, because the interplay of shades never fully comes across on screen. The delivery time is approximately four weeks.
