Morris & Friends wallpaper by Morris & Co
Morris & Friends wallpaper puts the spotlight on the designers who have shaped Morris & Co since 1861. Next to William Morris, you'll find patterns by JH Dearle, Edward Godwin, Kate Faulkner, May Morris and Kathleen Kersey. The collection counts 21 wallpapers and 23 fabric designs. Expect dense botanical repeats drawn in fine line: climbing stems, honeysuckle, wild roses and broad curling leaves. Some designs read calm and open on the wall. Others fill every inch with flowers, which suits a kitchen backsplash wall or a small hallway that can take a lot of pattern.
Designs in the Morris & Co Morris & Friends wallpaper collection
Honeysuckle and Tulip wallpaper sets white blooms and slate-blue acanthus leaves in a large, mirrored repeat on a navy ground, based on honeysuckle watercolors from 1876. May Morris drew Honeysuckle wallpaper in 1883, and it feels looser: dusty pink flowers with dark red tips twist through layered greens on cream. Sweet Briar wallpaper, a 1912 design by JH Dearle, sends thorny navy branches climbing over a mid-blue ground, with small white roses among ochre and cream leaves. Kathleen Kersey, part of the Morris & Co studio, filled Arbutus wallpaper with curving stems, leaves and ripe berries. Helena wallpaper from 1891 packs artichoke flowers against acanthus leaves and fritillaries. EW Godwin's Bamboo wallpaper of 1872 shows full bamboo leaves with a Japanese influence, and Windrush wallpaper, drawn by William Morris in 1881, layers its pattern in a lively palette.
Styling Morris & Friends by Morris & Co in your kitchen
These patterns sit comfortably behind a farmhouse sink with a brass faucet, marble counters and dark cabinets. Pick out one color from the paper, such as the navy of Honeysuckle and Tulip or the deep greens of Honeysuckle, and repeat it on cabinetry or trim. Worn wood and stoneware keep the look grounded. At Selected Wallpapers you'll find the full Morris & Friends wallpaper collection, so you can pair a busy design with a calmer one from the same family.
