V&A Decorative Papers III wallpaper by 1838 wallcoverings
With V&A Decorative Papers III wallpaper, you bring designs from the archive of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to your own walls. For this series, 1838 wallcoverings translated historical silk, printed cotton, a carpet design and hand-painted Chinese wallpaper into wall coverings. As a result, the patterns vary widely. They range from a figurative panorama that fills the entire wall height to a narrow small-scale stripe and a plain design without any motif. You can see their origins in the artwork: fine brushstrokes, a linen texture, the mottling of plasterwork.

Moor Park wallpaper is based on hand-painted Chinese wallpaper from a room in Moor Park, Hertfordshire. Flowering branches with elongated leaves, clustered blossoms and seed pods climb the full height of the wall. Birds perch between the branches, where a pagoda basket and a square ornamental frame also hang, in grey-green, taupe and rust orange on mottled off-white. Silk Stripe wallpaper is based on a silk brocade: silver-grey, slightly glossy stripes made up of small blocks, in groups of two or three, on a light grey-beige linen texture. Henley wallpaper is a plain design with cloudy plaster mottling in beige and salmon pink. You'll find flowers in Charlotte wallpaper, with bud-like chrysanthemums, and in Peony Garden wallpaper, with peonies in full bloom, buds and leaves. Wisteria Bloom wallpaper continues this theme. Ornamental Grasses wallpaper depicts blades of grass based on a printed cotton. Stratus wallpaper shows undulating clouds based on a silk design and Palmette wallpaper tropical flora based on a historical carpet.
V&A Decorative Papers III by 1838 wallcoverings in your interior
The chinoiserie panorama needs a wall with little in front of it. A low armchair or a side table keeps the branches and birds in view. The stripe and the plain lend themselves to a hallway or an adjacent room. This way, V&A Decorative Papers III wallpaper lets you carry the same palette from room to room. Pink velvet, walnut and jute complement the taupe and rust orange tones, as does a fringed cushion.
