Vescom wallcovering
Vescom wallcovering comes from Deurne in the Netherlands, where Joop van Esch founded the company in 1971. It began as a local maker of wallcoverings and grew into an international brand that has developed wallcovering, upholstery fabric and curtain fabric for the contract market for more than fifty years.
Two early choices still shape every wall it makes. Vescom produces its own material, and design leads the process.
The story behind Vescom wallcovering
Vescom calls itself a material maker, not a supplier. The company runs its own production sites and weaving mills in the Netherlands, Germany and the United States, with factories in Deurne and weaving mills in nearby Helmond. Because the work stays in-house, Vescom controls the whole chain, from raw material to finish.
That control is what you notice on the wall. Color and texture stay consistent across an order, which matters when one design has to run down a long hallway or cover every guest room on a hotel floor. From the start, Van Esch built the brand for interiors that get used hard, and that brief has not changed.
Materials and look of Vescom wallpaper
What carries a Vescom wall is texture, not pattern. The designs read as woven cloth: plain weaves, fine grids, herringbone and quiet mineral surfaces. Up close you see the structure. From across the room you see a calm, even tone.
These textures catch light differently from flat paint, so the wall gains depth. In a north-facing room the surface holds shadow and the color stays deep. Under a south window it opens up and reads lighter. The palette keeps to warm off-whites, soft grays, sand and deep ink tones, with muted olive gray, gray-green and beige brown among them.
The vinyl designs in the Vescom wallpaper range keep that textile look and wipe clean, so a scuff from a bag or a shoulder does not stay on the wall. The textile designs, woven from real fibers, ask for gentler care.
Signature Vescom wallcovering designs
Below is a selection of the Vescom wallcovering designs we carry. Each one looks plain from a distance and shows its structure as you come closer. Vescom develops its wall and furniture materials side by side, so if you want a bench or a drape in the same color family, browse our Vescom fabrics.
- Stellar — a fine granular surface with faint vertical striation and a starry sky effect
- Harrison — a small-scale herringbone weave with lighter flecks, offered in eighteen colors
- Viveo — a jacquard weave with small irregularities, shifting color nuances and a soft sheen
- Gemstone — a fine grid structure under a soft sheen that shifts between several colors
- Birch — a subtle grid pattern combined with a light slub for a linen-like look
- Sisu — a fine herringbone borrowed from tailoring, giving the wall a steady rhythm
- Ilara — a horizontal weave with soft color transitions that makes a wall read wider
- Eldor — a woven look with slight irregularity and a fine metallic thread that catches light
Where Vescom wallcovering works best
Start where walls take a beating. An entryway, a mudroom or a back hallway sees wet coats, grocery bags and kids' backpacks, and a vinyl design you can wipe down keeps its color after a long winter. A stairwell benefits for the same reason, since hands brush the wall on every trip up.
A powder room is a good first project: small, seen by every guest, and forgiving of a deeper tone. In a primary bedroom the woven look softens a spare, minimal room. In a home office a quiet texture gives the wall behind your desk some depth without pulling focus on a video call.
Vescom was developed for hotels, offices and healthcare interiors, and it still belongs there. Viveo is shown wrapping the curved walls of a restaurant with booth seating, and Stellar lines a dining room with brass trim. Want to see a design in your own house first? Ordering and hanging Vescom wallpaper
Vescom wallcovering is sold by the meter, not by the roll. Measure your walls in inches the way you normally would. The calculator on each product page takes your wall width and height and tells you how many meters to order.
Plan for a professional installer when you choose a pronounced texture or a wide panel format. Look for someone with experience in this type of wallcovering. Afterward, the vinyl designs only need a wipe now and then. For the textile designs, follow the care instructions on the product page.
