Morris & Friends fabric by Morris & Co with leaves, flowers and tendrils
Morris & Friends fabric gathers leaves, tendrils, berries and flowers into patterns that fill every inch, with hardly any bare ground showing. In Morris & Friends by Morris & Co, foliage always leads. Sometimes it grows freely across the cloth, sometimes it is mirrored in tidy rows. Some designs read as woven tapestry, others show visible stitches or the crisp outlines of block printing. Colors run from cream on soft blue and pale yellow on dark brown to aubergine, burgundy and white on indigo. The velvets give darker grounds a deep, soft glow.
Designs in the Morris & Co Morris & Friends fabric collection
William Morris drew Marigold fabric in 1875, and it reads as cream marigolds and serrated leaves on soft blue. Pimpernel fabric mirrors pale yellow flowers in interlacing leaves on dark brown. Forest Velvet fabric hides a peacock, foxes and a hare among acanthus leaves on black. Bramble fabric pairs berries with white flowers, Sweet Briar fabric climbs in thorny runs, and Golden Lily fabric and Golden Lily Minor fabric twist lily stems into scrolls. Seaweed fabric feels like a view under water, Pink & Rose fabric sends carnations up winding stems, and Fruit fabric hangs pomegranates from its branches. Acanthus Tapestry fabric curls aubergine leaves, Artichoke Embroidery fabric repeats blue artichokes on cream and Compton fabric mixes poppies with tulips. You will also find Granada fabric, Helena fabric, Helena Velvet fabric, Honeysuckle fabric, Honeysuckle & Tulip fabric, Kelmscott Tree fabric, Kennet fabric, Lodden fabric, Mary Isobel fabric, Mary Isobel Embroidery fabric, Montreal fabric and Montreal Velvet fabric.
Choosing Morris & Co fabric for curtains and chairs
Scale and ground color decide how a Morris & Friends fabric settles into a room. Marigold in two colors stays calm at a window, even in full length curtains. Pimpernel on dark brown gives a pair of drapes more weight against a taupe wall. Forest Velvet, with its large animals on black, suits a single armchair where the picture can be read up close. At Selected Wallpapers you can compare all 25 Morris & Co designs side by side before you choose.
