Grasscloth Resource 6 wallpaper by Thibaut: natural fibre on the wall

Grasscloth Resource 6 wallpaper is all about the wall itself: plain natural fibre without a printed pattern, where the texture does the work. Thibaut brings together sisal, raffia, jute and woven paper in this collection. The images show how differently this works out. With Windward Sisal, fine horizontal lines in dark brown, navy blue and golden brown intermingle. Lauderdale shows a honey-brown basket weave with small square braided sections. Shang Extra Fine Sisal colours the wall grass green, tone-on-tone. Up close you see every fibre; from a distance the wall reads as one calm colour field.

If you want lines, choose sisal. Windward Sisal wallpaper weaves two colours of sisal into a mottled surface, Shang Extra Fine Sisal wallpaper is more finely woven and more even in colour, and Heather Sisal wallpaper combines a tight weave with a soft colour palette. If you're looking for more relief, go for raffia. Lauderdale wallpaper braids dried palm leaves into a coarse basket weave with a regular grid. Carolina Raffia wallpaper is tightly woven and shows knots and small irregularities, and Bethany Raffia wallpaper also belongs to this group. With Sydney wallpaper, neutral jute strands lie horizontally on a coloured background, giving the wall movement. Paper is the basis of Clarkson Weave wallpaper, with tightly woven strands, and of Coastline wallpaper, where strips in two shades form a tweed-like weave. Edward´s Paper wallpaper completes the range.

The images show how the collection works with what's in front of it. Against the dark Windward Sisal, dry yellow twigs and a pink-and-white vase stand out. The honey brown of Lauderdale suits a wicker tray and an old woodcarving, while the green Shang Extra Fine Sisal lets an olive branch and a terracotta pot with green glaze blend into one colour world. With Grasscloth Resource 6 by Thibaut, first choose the fibre, then the colour.
