Harlequin wallpaper is the color-forward member of the Sanderson Design Group, the English family of interior brands that also counts Zoffany, Morris & Co. and Sanderson. Palettes run from fabric-soft neutrals to deep jewel tones, and every design is drawn and painted by hand before it becomes a roll. On the wide drywall surfaces American houses are built from, that depth of color does the work.

Choosing a Harlequin design room by room

An open floor plan leaves few contained walls, so a pattern has to carry a wide surface on its own: a chimney breast, the wall behind a bed, the single entryway wall opposite the front door. A powder room works the other way around: small, windowless, and exactly where a deep jewel tone that would take over a family room is right. These designs handle height too: a repeat that feels heavy under an 8 ft (2.44 m) ceiling settles once there are 12 ft (3.66 m) above the baseboard.

Botanicals, graphics and texture across the collection

The range splits roughly three ways: botanical drawings with an open, breathing quality, graphic work built on rhythm and depth (see all geometric wallpaper), and textured wallpaper that reads as raffia or woven linen from a few steps back. Colorway matters as much as the drawing: the same design in a chalky neutral and in a saturated ink behaves like two products. Places to start: Harlequin x Sophie Robinson, a maximalist collaboration with the British designer; Zamora, warm and earthy with a Mediterranean feel; and the Momentum 7 and Diane Hill collections.

Hanging Harlequin wallpaper on drywall

Many designs come as non-woven wallpaper, the format American installers prefer: paste goes on the wall, the dry length is smoothed into place, and it lifts away in whole sheets later. Seal the drywall first with primer or wallpaper size, so the paper releases later instead of tearing the face off the board. Bare joint compound drinks paste unevenly. With a long vertical repeat or a heavier texture, we would rather see a professional installer on the job than a free Saturday; a stairwell punishes an uneven first drop.

European roll sizes, duties and delivery in the US

Harlequin wallpaper is sold by the European roll: 33 ft (10.05 m) long and 20.9 in (53 cm) wide, so one roll covers close to an American double roll and your roll count comes out lower. Order the whole job at once: rolls from one batch match, a later top-up may not. Order samples, and use our Room Visualizer to see a design on your own wall. A jewel tone under gray Northeast winter light is not the color it becomes in an Arizona living room. Duties and import fees are included, so nothing is collected on delivery.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ about Harlequin Wallpaper
What makes Harlequin wallpaper special?
Harlequin is a British design brand known for combining bold patterns with refined colour palettes. The collections range from lush floral motifs to clean graphic designs, all created with modern interiors in mind. The brand stands out for the breadth of its offer: there is always a Harlequin design that suits your style and space.
Is Harlequin wallpaper available as non-woven wallpaper?
Yes, the majority of the Harlequin collection is available as non-woven wallpaper. Non-woven wallpaper has the advantage that the strip is applied to the wall rather than soaking the wallpaper itself, making hanging considerably easier. It can also be removed cleanly without damaging the wall.
What styles does Harlequin wallpaper offer?
Harlequin offers a wide range of styles: from botanical and floral prints to graphic, geometric and textured wallpaper. There are also plain and subtly textured options for those seeking a calm base. This makes the collection suitable for a wide variety of interiors — from classic and country to modern and eclectic.
Can I order a sample of Harlequin wallpaper?
Yes, for most Harlequin designs you can order a sample via the product page. This allows you to assess the colour and material in your own home and light before making a final decision. Samples are delivered on order.
How many rolls of Harlequin wallpaper do I need?
How many rolls you need depends on the dimensions of your room and the pattern. Designs with a large pattern repeat require more cutting waste and therefore more rolls. Use our wallpaper calculator for a quick and accurate calculation based on your wall measurements.
