Kamis wallpaper collection Arte

Kami wallpaper by Arte: pond, silk and folded paper

Kami wallpaper by Arte is all about the calm of horizontal lines and earth tones. Cream, dark brown, olive green and ochre recur, but each time in a different form. One design tells a story with lotus flowers and fish, another lets only the thread or the pleat speak. So in Kami by Arte you'll find a figurative print, a plain silk weave and a relief you can trace with your fingertips. Together they form a series that works well side by side, even if you want to give different walls in one room their own character.

Patterns in the Kami wallpaper collection

On Koi wallpaper you look down into a Japanese pond. Lotus flowers, round leaves and trumpet flowers on vines float on a cream-coloured background, with undulating water lines and translucent fish silhouettes in between. The drawing is executed in olive brown, sage green, ochre, grey and light pink. Dupion wallpaper has no motif. Irregular, thicker silk threads glow copper orange against a dark brown to olive green base, and the colour shifts with the light. Origami wallpaper is plain ochre, with dense rows of small pleats that mimic folded paper and rippling water. The relief gives the wall depth without a pattern. Kimono wallpaper consists of six silk foulards with Oriental scenes that together form one panorama.

Arte wallpaper with horizontal structure and earth tones

What binds Koi, Dupion and Origami is the horizontal line. With Koi it's in the fibre structure of the background, with Dupion in the thread itself, with Origami in the rows of pleats. In the photos they're shown next to dark wood, stone and black furniture, and there they come into their own. If you want one wall to speak, choose Koi or Kimono. If you're looking for calm, then Dupion and Origami work as a background for furniture with a clear shape.
