Elitis Kintsugi wallpaper with gold lines on mottled grounds

Kintsugi wallpaper from Elitis takes the Japanese idea of visible repair and puts it on your wall. Where something has broken, a line of gold runs through it. Across the collection that idea shows up as fine crackle, as large fractured planes and as frames of crumpled gold leaf. The grounds stay quiet and mottled, in cream, off-white and olive green, so the gold has room to work without crowding the wall. It reads like an old wall that someone restored with care. Five designs make up the collection, from an all-over pattern to panoramic murals.

Five designs in the Kintsugi wallpaper collection

The Kintsugi wallpaper keeps the scale small: a dense web of thin, gold-beige lines on a textured cream ground, with relief you notice only when light moves across it. Kintsugi Eclat wallpaper takes the same idea big. Broad gold lines split a mottled olive wall into a few angular planes, with flecks of gold leaf scattered here and there. Les marques de l'Empire wallpaper switches to straight lines. Ragged bands of crumpled gold leaf draw frames and three parallel stripes on off-white, like paneling that has picked up years of wear. Une Certaine Magnificence wallpaper shows two vases filled with flowers, and Algues Dorees wallpaper sends golden seaweed drifting across the wall as a panoramic scene.

Where gold Elitis wallpaper works in your home

The fine crackle of the Kintsugi design suits a wall you see every day, in a living room or hallway, next to stone and ceramics. Eclat and Les marques de l'Empire need a large, open wall where the lines can run their full length. Shown beside red marble, brass and an orange-red sofa, the gold glows warm without turning showy. At Selected Wallpapers you can compare the five Kintsugi by Elitis designs side by side and choose how much gold your room can carry.
