Les Modernes fabric by Casamance: geometry on a light base

The Les Modernes fabric collection by Casamance builds each pattern from right angles, blocks and bars on a light background. There are no flowers or figures, only abstract geometry. Yet no two patterns are alike. One is small and dense, another large and graphic. The colours range from petrol green via ochre to black with cognac. The images show the fabrics as curtains and as upholstery on a sofa and pouf, alongside wood, copper and alabaster. Modulor fabric is an irregular checkerboard of squares and rectangles in varying widths, petrol green against off-white. On the curved back roll of a sofa and a round ball cushion, the blocks follow the shape. Composition fabric works with lines. Nested L-shapes and half squares in ochre and caramel lie close together like a small labyrinth, with a small solid rectangle here and there. Avant-Garde fabric scales that idea up into rounded bars, hooks and U-shapes in black and cognac brown on ecru with a linen texture. On two tall curtain panels the pattern almost becomes a wall-filling image. A Contretemps fabric combines half circles, rectangles and stepped shapes in sienna, ochre and terracotta with grey-blue accents and black lines.
