Neutral Surroundings wallpaper by DWC: plain walls with texture

With Neutral Surroundings wallpaper you choose walls without a pattern, where the surface does the work. The collection by DWC consists of textile wallcoverings that run across the wall as one plain surface, without a visible repeat. Up close you see flecks, shading and a lively texture. From a distance the wall reads as a calm colour field that lets the rest of the room speak. The two patterns differ in character: one is matt and soft in tone, the other shines and has a clear direction. This means the collection works in a study corner as well as in a small cloakroom.

Sandstone and Tartan in the Neutral Surroundings wallpaper collection

Sandstone wallpaper is dusty pink, with a fine, irregularly mottled texture in lighter and darker shades. It recalls plasterwork or the grain of sandstone and has a soft chenille look. In the photo it covers the wall of a study corner next to a light wood cabinet, with orange-brown animal figurines of a bear, a dog and a deer standing on its shelves. The matt pink keeps the corner light without making it look bare. Tartan wallpaper has a name that suggests a check, but there is no check pattern to be seen. The colour runs from ochre to gold, with a glossy, mottled texture like crushed velvet and fine vertical lines running through it. In a cloakroom it covers all the walls, and the wide mirror above the metal vessel basin reflects the golden walls back.

Choosing between the patterns of Neutral Surroundings by DWC

The difference lies in light and direction. Sandstone is matt and non-directional, so the wall remains calm, even in a room where a lot is going on. Tartan catches the light and draws the eye upward with its vertical lines, which emphasises height in a small space. If you want a soft background, the pink is the obvious choice. If you're looking for warmth and shine in a compact space, the ochre-gold of this DWC wallpaper brings exactly that.
