Romo wallpaper

Romo wallpaper comes from Nottinghamshire in England, where a family firm founded by Robert Mould in 1902 is now in its fifth generation. Furniture came first, then fabric and wallcovering. Since the design studio opened in the 1980s the drawings have been made in-house, and it shows: measured pattern, color that sits quietly.

What a European roll of Romo wallpaper covers

The bulk of the range is non-woven, on rolls 20.5 in (52 cm) wide by 32.8 ft (10 m) long: roughly 56 sq ft (5.2 m²) per roll before trimming and pattern match. American rolls are cut to other widths, so measure your walls and count in European rolls rather than converting. An 8 ft wall gives four drops from one roll if the pattern allows; 9 and 10 ft ceilings, common in newer American homes, give three.

A powder room is the low-risk way in: two rolls usually cover it, and one botanical carries the space. The entryway is next: it is the wall a guest reads first. On an open-plan floor, papering one bay or the chimney breast gives the room an edge without closing it. Stairwells suit the taller patterns.

Hanging Romo wallpaper on American drywall

Non-woven means paste onto the wall and the dry length onto the paste, so one person can manage a room. Prime bare drywall first; relief textures pick up every ridge underneath. It takes a wrung-out cloth, and lifts off later without wrecking what is behind it. Wide repeats and embossed lines are worth a professional hanger.
