Austine wallpaper Sandberg

Austine wallpaper by Sandberg: hand-drawn stripes on off-white

Austine wallpaper brings rhythm to your wall with narrow vertical stripes that look as if they were laid out by hand. Each stripe holds two columns of small four-petal flowers on a stem with a leaf, framed by thin lines and dotted lines. The lines undulate gently, in the spirit of a block print, so the pattern never feels rigid. Between the stripes lies a wide empty band with a single row of dots. Up close you see every little flower; from a distance you read a continuous stripe.

Colours of Austine wallpaper: Classic Blue, Green and Burgundy

Classic Blue combines an off-white ground with dark blue lines and flowers filled with light grayish blue. The dots are dark brown, and it is precisely that brown that makes the colourway warm enough for wooden furniture and blue bed linen. In Green, the lines and dots turn dark gray-green and the flowers are filled with light sage, giving the whole a softer, garden-like character. Burgundy completes the range of three colourways.

Sandberg wallpaper behind the bed

On the wall, the stripes are spaced about 9.8 in (25 cm) apart, generous enough to hang prints between them without it feeling busy. Behind a bed with a striped headboard, an interplay of fine and broader lines emerges, and wooden bedside tables with marble tops gain a calm backdrop.
