Vinyl wallpaper is what we point American clients toward when a wall has to look considered and still survive daily life. Under the printed surface sits a plastic coating fused to a non-woven or paper carrier, which keeps damp, marks and hands off the wall itself.

Rooms in a US home where vinyl wallpaper pays off

The powder room off the entryway, the mudroom, the stretch of hall everyone brushes past: there, a cleanable surface stops being a bonus. Open floor plans add a second argument: steam and cooking residue travel much further across an American main level than behind a closed European kitchen door. A bathroom works too, once the substrate is sealed and dry. Parents often begin in a child's bedroom, where marker wipes off instead of soaking in. What the coating does, and what EN 15102 covers

These designs stay presentable because their surface gives up dirt to a damp cloth instead of drawing it in. Much of our program carries the European EN 15102 standard, so the material has passed laboratory checks on wear and on fire behavior. PVC-free versions keep arriving. Surfaces reach from smooth and faintly reflective to matte with real depth, as the textured wallpaper selection shows.

Hanging vinyl wallpaper on drywall

Walls here are mostly drywall rather than lime plaster, and bare drywall pulls at paste unevenly unless it is primed. Skim the taped joints, prime, and let it dry through. Nearly all of the vinyl patterns we carry are built over a non-woven base, which installers find easier on the taller ceilings of newer builds; see the non-woven wallpaper collection.

European roll sizes against American double rolls

European mills do not cut to American dimensions. A standard roll from us measures 32.8 ft (10 m) by 20.9 in (53 cm), so one European roll covers roughly what a US double roll would. Compare on wall area, not roll count; we will gladly check quantities. Those rolls are grouped under wallpaper per roll.

How the range compares with paper and textile

Against uncoated paper wallpaper, vinyl trades some of that soft, chalky surface for cleanability. A textile wallcovering behaves differently under light and reads warmer up close, while these papers ask less of you once they are on the wall. Neither is better; they suit different walls.
