What made-to-measure wallpaper actually is

An ordinary roll has a fixed width and a fixed repeat, which is why the pattern keeps recurring. Here we turn that around: you give us the width and height of your wall, and the design is scaled to that size and printed in panels that line up into a single whole. A forest, a landscape or a graphic plane then runs across the full wall and begins and ends in the right place. If you would rather work with a repeating design, wallpaper by the roll remains a good choice.

The materials for made-to-measure wallpaper

The material decides how the wallpaper feels, how it responds to moisture and how you clean it. We work with several proven backings, so you can pick the right one for each room.

• Seamless vinyl prints the design in wide panels that you place edge to edge, leaving barely any visible seams. It wipes clean easily, which suits busy rooms.
• Non-woven is a sturdy, breathable backing that resists tearing and shrinking and is easy to hang. The paste goes on the wall rather than the wallpaper, which keeps installation straightforward.
• Vinyl handles moisture better than paper and is wipeable, which makes it usable in spots where the odd splash of water reaches the wall.
• Bathroom wallpaper is built from water-resistant materials that stand up to the high humidity of a bathroom, so the design stays good there too.

In a hallway or along the stairwell a continuous landscape gains depth, and in a study a calm, graphic design opens up the room without becoming busy.
